Senior Vice President, Public Relations
A journalist for 20 years, Christina McHenry knows that people are at the root of every story. Her work with prominent news organizations like CBS News, ABC News Nightline and PBS's NewsHour has given her unique insights into how we tell stories and why stories matter for raising awareness and finding solutions.
McHenry was Director of Communications, Community and Corporate Responsibility for Fannie Mae during the foreclosure crisis. She was deeply affected by the experience of interviewing those affected by it. "I realized how important it was that someone be standing up for them,” she said.
While at Fannie Mae, she worked with NeighborWorks America and was impressed by its “entrepreneurship and ‘can-do’ attitude.” She joined NeighborWorks America in 2011, and now serves as Senior Vice President, Public Relations. Reporting directly to the organization’s chief executive officer, she provides strategic communications counsel on the national level while providing also communications support to more than 240 NeighborWorks organizations nationwide.
She enjoys getting out of the office and interviewing residents and local leaders. “It is such a privilege to hear people share why they do what they do,” she says, “My goal is to make sure people know we are there for them.”
McHenry holds a B.A. from Tufts University in Political Science and French.
