Vice President, National Real Estate Programs
Deyo oversees all the grant making, technical assistance, knowledge building, peer learning, training and business development activities that help NeighborWorks organizations in three areas: creating more affordable rental housing opportunities; encouraging community stabilization and growth; and developing green, sustainable service programs. With the help of Deyo and this team, network organizations own and manage more than 100,000 quality rental homes. In addition, 42 network members have achieved the NeighborWorks Green Organization designation.
With more than 20 years of experience in implementing affordable housing solutions for underserved communities, Deyo still gets excited about the work and especially the people and organizations on the ground with which he works every day. “My passion all along has been to work with leading-edge organizations that are always thinking about how they sustain themselves and the communities they live in,” says Deyo. “That exactly describes the NeighborWorks network.”
Previously, Deyo was senior advisor for Gulf Coast rebuilding and green strategies, supporting NeighborWorks America’s response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He also led the development and implementation of the organization's strategy to become an energy-efficient organization and support a green network.
Deyo joined NeighborWorks in November 2007, after working for 14 years with Fannie Mae's field operations and partners. During his tenure with Fannie Mae, he led its comprehensive program to redevelop the Gulf Coast. Deyo is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and the University of Virginia.
