NeighborWorks America Brings Individuals and Families “Home for the Holidays”
As the holidays approach, many individuals and families across the nation who are “home for the holidays” -- as homeowners or in affordable rental homes -- are there because of the work of NeighborWorks America and its network of affiliated organizations. NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities, supports a network of more than 235 nonprofits, located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. NeighborWorks organizations offer critical on-the-ground services to potential homeowners, providing assistance and serving as stewards to responsible homeownership. NeighborWorks through its organizations also works to create stronger communities by creating and managing affordable rental homes.

NeighborWorks America Announces First Designees to Comprehensive “Green” Program
Today NeighborWorks America awarded 16 community organizations within its network a green designation, NeighborWorks Green Organization, based on a measurement of green business practices across their operations and all of their program areas. These organizations create a sustainable business culture and produce benefits to thousands of families through their homeowner education, housing development activities, and community engagement programs. These activities help reduce energy consumption and costs, create healthier living and working environments, and promote sustainable communities. This is the first time NeighborWorks has recognized organizations for creating healthier, energy efficient environments.

NeighborWorks America Announces that the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program Has Served 1.5 Million Homeowners
1.5 million homeowners have received foreclosure prevention counseling by local nonprofits, national intermediaries and state housing finance agencies participating in the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling (NFMC) program administered by NeighborWorks America, one of the nation’s largest community development corporations. The latest report on the NFMC program also found the program has helped save local governments, lenders, and homeowners approximately $920 million.

NeighborWorks America Brings More Than 2,000 Community Development Professionals to Washington, DC to Take Part in Training Institute
Today NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities, announced it will hold its quarterly Training Institute in downtown Washington, DC December 10-14, 2012. The weeklong event will provide training to more than 2,000 affordable housing and community development professionals from around the country. The Training Institute is expected to deliver an estimated $3 million in economic impact citywide.

Today NeighborWorks America Northeast Regional Director Deborah Boatright was presented with the Nonprofit of the Year Award by the New York Housing Conference at their 39th Annual Awards Program. NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities, supports a network of more than 235 nonprofits, located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The New York Housing Conference is a broad-based coalition that advocates for decent affordable housing for all New Yorkers.

NeighborWorks America, which creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities, supports a network of more than 235 nonprofits, located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. NeighborWorks organizations work year round to help place and keep people in the right homes—from rentals to homeownership, offering pre- and post-homeownership counseling, assisting consumers to make smart, informed decisions throughout the process.

NeighborWorks America Names Debbie Matz Vice Chair to Board of Directors
Today NeighborWorks America, a top community development organization, announced the appointment of Debbie Matz as vice chair to the board of directors. Matz replaces former board chair Christiane Gigi Hyland and succeeds Julie Williams as vice chair to the board of directors. Matz currently chairs the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and fills NCUA’s seat on the NeighborWorks America board. She previously served as vice chair to the NeighborWorks America board of directors in 2004.

NeighborWorks America, a top community development organization, today announced the appointment of Sarah Bloom Raskin as its board chair. Raskin, who succeeds former Chair Christiane Gigi Hyland, has served as the Federal Reserve Board of Governor’s representative to the NeighborWorks America board since January 2011.

NeighborWorks America Announces the 2012 Dorothy Richardson Resident Leadership Award Honorees
Today NeighborWorks America announced the recipients of the 2012 Dorothy Richardson Resident Leadership Award, and celebrated 20 years of leaders at the corporation’s fifth annual national Community Leadership Institute held this year in Orlando, FL. Regional Community Leadership Institutes have been held since 1995, and more than 12,000 residents have received important training that they’ve taken back to their communities to effect positive and lasting change.
